<image:title>Daniel Margolin - Daniel Margolin</image:title>
<image:caption>Daniel Margolin is the founder of Margolin Family Law and a Portland, Oregon native. His practice focuses on all aspects of family law litigation. Dan applies his litigation expertise to provide additional expertise when assisting clients with Family Law Appeals and Collaborative Divorce matters. After graduating from New York University School of Law, Daniel worked at the Oregon Court of Appeals for the Honorable Rex Armstrong. Dan then worked as an associate attorney at a local law firm. Dan was a founding partner of Stephens & Margolin LLP where he practiced for many years prior to founding Margolin Family Law in 2021. He has been practicing family law in Oregon since 2005. Dan’s specialties include complex financial asset litigation, high-conflict custody and parenting time matters and modifications, appeals and prenuptial agreements. Dan has the ability to switch between a direct and aggressive litigation style or a reasonable interest driven problem solving approach. Dan’s sole focus is the best possible outcome for his client. He takes the time to listen and understand what they really need in order to not only resolve their case in conformance with their goals, but also to ensure that they can move forward after their case as self-sufficiently and confidently as possible. Dan presents frequently at local and national Continuing Legal Education Seminars, including the OLI Family Law Annual seminar. At that CLE, Daniel presented the Family Law Appellate Update. Dan has also authored CLE chapters for the Oregon State Bar, including the Torts chapter, and authored the lead article for the Oregon Bar Association’s Family Law Newsletter in December of 2009 with an article on Collaborative Divorce. In his personal time, Dan enjoys spending time with his wife and two kids, reading sci-fi books, cooking, traveling, and trying new restaurants. Dan has been featured as an expert on family law in The Oregonian newspaper. <image:title>Erin Holbrook Johnson - Erin Holbrook Johnson</image:title>
<image:caption>Erin is originally from Massachusetts and moved to Oregon in 2006 after graduating from law school. Between Massachusetts and Oregon, she lived, worked, and studied in several countries, including England, Wales, and Azerbaijan, and in the city of Pristina (in the Republic of Kosovo). She completed a bachelor's degree at Columbia Union College in 2002, with a double major in 'History' and 'Philosophy and Religion.' She went on to complete her law degree at the University of Maryland, School of Law, with a concentration in Environmental Law. After moving to Oregon, Erin volunteered for St. Andrew Legal Clinic and the Family Law Assistance Program in Washington County. She then worked for the Multnomah County Courts in family law departments for over seven years before transitioning to private practice as an associate for Stephens & Margolin, PC and continuing that role with Margolin Family Law. While practicing with Margolin Family Law, Erin completed training with Elder Law College, adding elder law and estate planning to her family law practice. Erin is passionate about family dynamics. Her most rewarding work is time spent with clients creating a plan that works for them and their families, whether that be working with a client planning to get married and wanting a premarital agreement, a client whose family is reorganizing as part of a divorce, a client planning for incapacity or long-term care later in life, or a client that is planning how their estate will be handled down the road. Planning for these events can feel like an overwhelming task. Erin works hard to answer questions, resolve concerns, and create outcomes that work for her clients. Erin is also trained in Collaborative Law dispute resolution, for resolving conflicts outside of the courtroom. Erin can assist you with your premarital, family law, elder law, and estate planning needs, specializing in premarital, postmarital, cohabitation, and marital settlement agreements, wills, trusts, powers of attorney, advance directives, releases, deeds, and caregiving agreements. In her spare time, Erin enjoys running, reading, particularly British mysteries, exploring the Portland food scene with friends, a recently renewed interest in cooking, documentaries, and keeping up with grand slam tennis. <image:title>Alecia Darm - Alecia Darm</image:title>
<image:caption>Alecia was raised in Lake Oswego, Oregon. After graduating from Jesuit High School, she attended Trinity University in San Antonio, Texas, where she earned her BA in Communication & Spanish. After graduating from college, Alecia spent a year working as a legal assistant at Davis Law Firm in Beaverton, Oregon. She went on to complete her law degree at Seattle University in 2012. Following Alecia’s graduation, she determined that she wanted to pursue a career in family law. Alecia has assisted individuals with effectively navigating the complicated and foreign family law legal process since she passed the Oregon State bar in September, 2012. She also represented allegedly mentally ill individuals in civil commitment hearings for three years, which allowed her to develop a firm understanding for both the challenges that mentally ill people face and the mental health system in Oregon. Alecia understands that domestic relations disputes are one of the most challenging experiences that her clients will ever encounter, which is why they need effective and diligent legal representation. Alecia believes that the foundation of a meaningful attorney-client relationship is communication. Alecia listens to her client’s priorities and concerns, puts together a detailed plan with the client at the onset of the case, and zealously advocates for the client’s objectives throughout the entire proceeding. Regardless of what the client’s goals may be, Alecia will ensure that steps are quickly and effectively taken to meet the client’s objectives and to negotiate a beneficial settlement or to present a winning argument in court. When Alecia is not working, most of her time is spent with her family, typically chasing around her precocious one-year old. She also enjoy spending her free time outdoors, hiking, biking, skiing, or doing whatever activity is available. Prior to her work with Stephens & Margolin PC and her transition to Margolin Family Law, Alecia supported Gay Canaday in her Lake Oswego legal practice.
